If you didn’t notice, a few things are different over here at Blueshift. First things first, we’ve grown by just a tad. A big welcome to the fresh meat: Shannon Sommers, Claire August, Allison Huang, Smriti Verma, Meilan Steimle, Jason Hu, Alice Xu, and Joohee Park!
Next, we’re introducing a new feature called Feedback Corner. What’s that, you say? Well, for 3 bucks per selection of work, send in your writing/art for a second eye, and within 10 days, we will get back to you with constructive comments from two or more of our staff. You can send us up to THREE poems, ONE prose piece, or THREE art pieces in the same document per Feedback Corner submission. Anything over this, and we will not provide feedback. These are not submissions for consideration for Issue 4, but a separate category entirely. All proceeds from this will be going towards our goal of paying future contributors.
If you decide to utilize this feature, note that our staff is young, and we ourselves are still developing our craft. Therefore, if you are going to use this feature, you NEED to keep in mind that we really, really, really don't know everything about poetry. What we send to you will merely some thoughts on your work that we hope you can use to improve your writing. Or not use. It is completely up to you what you get from our comments.
With that said, we decided it’s high time you start to get to know our staff better! Therefore, this issue, we’re going to be putting together a staff arts segment featuring Blueshift’s best and brightest – aka all of Blueshift. Best part is that they’re going to be creating the theme themselves. Keep an eye out for that.
Now, what’s coming up?
Submissions for Issue 4 are now open. Send us your art, poetry, and prose; give us all you've got. We’ve got interviews with Larry Raab and Ross Gay to be released soon, Queers on Media, Playhouse Tuesdays, and much, much more.
